Book and (substituting for beer) a wine #3

Lazy summer evening with a light rain misting the neighborhood, I opted for the 5 block walk to Zula for flat bread with an eye on taking half home for breakfast tomorrow. Done!

Book: In the Country of the Blind by Edward Hoagland. I picked up this book randomly and took it home based on the Annie Proulx endorsement/blurb on the front cover: “Hoagland is our wild world’s literary virtuoso.” I’m about a quarter through this short novel. It takes a moment to get in the narrator’s head and the rhythms he uses to tell the story, but now that I’m there, I’m letting Hoagland and his leading man take me on their journey.

Beer Wine: I do like a minerally white wine, one that conjures up the stone paths the winemaker climbs in his or her vineyards…on my tongue. This one comes from the Burgundy region of France and was definitely my kind of white wine.
