Book: Three Years with the Rat, reported to be sci-fi, mind-warping thriller. This seems like it’s trying too hard, but at about 20% in, I’m finding it pretty enjoyable.
Beer: Nation Ale, by Listerman, served exclusively at Nation Kitchen and Bar in OTR. The restaurant and the beer are named after notorious temperance activist Carrie Nation, one of the leading forces in passing the 18th amendment and bring prohibition to the country in 1920 until the law’s repeal in 1923. The beer is a decent ale, not as crisp as I prefer, that goes well with the Nation’s quesadilla burger. If you google Carrie Nation, I think it’s easy to surmise that she would not be amused.
